What is Elder Orphans?
The Madera County Sheriff's Office created a unique calling service designed for senior citizens who live alone and wish to receive daily house checks. The telephonic messaging system is offered to people who are trying to maintain an independent life but would feel more secure knowing help is only a phone call away.
How does Elder Orphans work?
Elder Orphans delivers daily pre-recorded messages to your home with instructions to press #1 indicating you are fine.
What happens if I don't answer the phone?
If the client does not answer after a preset number of calls, dispatch will request a welfare check at that location. If the client leaves town, or will not be available to answer their call, they must notify the Sheriff's Office.
What if my phone number or address changes?
The system is only as good as the information you provide. If there are changes then you must notify the Sheriff's Office.
Will my contact information be shared with others?
No. The information that you provide is used for notification purposes only. We will not give or sell your confidential information to any vendor or other organization.
Is there a fee for this service?
This service is free to all Madera County residents.
