Roadways across Madera County are being affected by the storms. This post will be updated as necessary. Please report any road flooding issues via the MadCoServices app or by calling 311.
Current road closures:
-Avenue 18-1/2 between Road 4 & Road 8 ***BRIDGE CLOSED***
Please avoid flooded areas and closed roads and drive safely!
Permit Road Closures
Short Term:
Sewer line Replacement for the Community College.
Road closure on Westlake Drive in Oakhurst.
- Traffic Control between November 12 through December 3, 2024 (See map attached)
- Detours are in place. (See map attached)

Road closure at Road 225 for bridge repairs.
- Beginning Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
- The road closure is expected to last no more than 12 days.
- Detours will be in place.
Road closure at Avenue 13 Closure and Road 23
- Friday (10/18/24) Avenue 13 will be closed between Road 23 and Road 24
- Monday (10/21) Road 23 will be under one-lane traffic control between Avenue 12 and Avenue 14
- Tuesday (10/22) to Friday (11/22) Avenue 13 will be closed again from Road 23 to Road 24
Road closure on Town Center Boulevard to install wet and dry underground utilities, curb, gutter, sidewalk, remove and repair paved roads.
- Begins September 23, 2024, and will take approximately 50 working days to complete.
County Maintenance/Project Closures
Short Term:
2021 Shoulder Paving Project - Location 3-Road 16 from SR-152 to Avenue 24.
Full Road Closure.
- Closure dates will be 11/11/24 to 11/22/24
- Detour will be in place using Avenue 24 and Road 15 ¾.
2021 Shoulder Paving Project
This project is scheduled to begin Monday, 10/14/24, and is expected to continue for several months. The project will include paving of dirt shoulders along the identified routes.
The project includes work at the following locations (in no particular order):
Location 1- Roberston Blvd from Avenue 18-1/2 to State Route 152 (Start Date 10/14/24)
Location 2- Avenue 18-1/2 from Golden State Blvd to 5 miles West
Location 3- Road 16 from SR-152 to Avenue 24
Location 4- Avenue 9 from Road 38 to Road 40-1/2
Location 5- Avenue 7 from SR-145 to Road 30-1/2
Location 6- Avenue 12 from Road 19 to Road 23
- Work will start at Roberston Blvd.
- Work dates for each location will vary depending on the rate of progress at preceding locations. Information will be updated here as it becomes available.
- Construction zone traffic control at these locations, which may include road closures, lane closures, and piloting traffic control. This may result in delays for travelers through these areas.

Long Term:
MD-1 Hidden Lakes Boulevard Road Closure.
Starting Monday, August 12, 2024, and continuing until approximately December 6, 2024, there will be intermittent full road closures of Hidden Lakes Boulevard affecting access to Hidden Lakes Estates due to essential infrastructure work. The Hidden Lakes Emergency Tank project is aimed at restoring water capacity for the community and involves installing new pipes from the Water Treatment Plant between Ralston Ridge and Captain Ave and progressing towards the new tanks site near Hidden Lakes Boulevard and Anza Drive.

High-Speed Rail Road Closures
Short Term:
Road closure at the Road 26 railroad tracks due to the High-Speed Rail project.
- Closure dates: Friday, May 3, 2024 to July 28, 2025.
- Detours will be in place using Avenue 17, Road 27 and Avenue 21
Long Term:
None at this time.
