What are Health Alerts, Advisories and Updates?

CDC ---->   State Health Dept.s  ---->   Local Health Dept.s ---->  Madera County Health Providers

Health alerts, advisories & updates are a way to send urgent health information from the CDC to health organizations:
  •   The CDC sends a HAN (Health Alert Network) advisory to the states and interested partners (hospitals, emergency response agencies, health providers)
  • California will send the information through CHAN (California Health Alert Network) to local Health Departments and interested partners, noting California-specific information
  • Local Health Departments (like Madera County Dept. of Public Health) decide which issues are relevant to Madera County, note specific Madera County issues and can send a local health alert to area providers, pharmacies and funeral homes, depending on the topic.

Health Alerts, Advisories & Updates
What is the difference between an Alert, Advisory & Update?

Health Alerts, Advisories and Updates are periodically issued by Madera County Department of Public Health to advise Madera County Medical Providers and other groups of emerging medical issues affecting Madera County.
