What is the California Children's Services (CCS) Program?
The CCS program provides diagnostic and treatment services, medical case management, and physical and occupational therapy services to children from birth to age 21 with CCS-medically eligible conditions. Examples of CCS-eligible conditions include, but are not limited to, chronic medical conditions such as cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, cerebral palsy, heart disease, cancer, traumatic injuries, and infectious diseases producing major sequelae. CCS also provides medical therapy services that are delivered at public schools.
The CCS program is administered as a partnership between county health departments and the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).
What are the CCS Program Goals?
- To locate California children who may have CCS specialized medical needs.
- To encourage California families with physically disabled children to obtain the medical services necessary to bring about the maximum development of their children.
- To help these California families obtain medical treatment of the child's condition at the time care will be the most effective.
Who is eligible for the CCS Program?
The program is available to children who are:
- Newborn to 21 years of age; and
- Are a Madera County resident; and
- Have a diagnosed CCS medically eligible condition; and
- Whose family income is less than $40,000 a year (State adjusted gross income). An individual whose family has a higher income may receive services if the estimated cost of care in one year is expected to exceed 20 percent of income.
CCS Medical Therapy Program
The Medical Therapy Program provides physical and occupational therapy for children from birth to age 21 with cerebral palsy and other neurological, neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions.
