Library Information

The Madera County Library is a Free Public Library. That means that you can check out materials at no charge as long as you return them in good condition by the due date that is given to you at check out. Most items have a 3 week loan period. Certain special or new items will have shorter loan period. Be sure to keep and refer to your receipt when you borrow books. When in doubt as to the due date, call the library at (559) 675-7871 or go to “ValleyCat-Catalog/My Account”.  Automated renewal access is also available at 866-290-8681.

 

Library Card Application:

In order to apply for a library card, you must have a valid picture ID such as a driver's license or California ID card. You must also have proof of your current address if the address is not correct on your picture ID. This proof can be a utility bill or a valid piece of delivered U.S. mail. Children who are 14 years or younger must have a parent or legal guardian apply on their behalf. The parent or guardian will be held responsible for all library materials. Teens 15-17 years of age can use their current school ID. Parents name and date of birth will be required. You will select a 4 digit PIN to use with your library card number when accessing your account or databases online. Your library card is required to use the library computers or to check out library materials.

The online self-registration form is provided by the San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS) which is the library consortium that Madera County Library is a part of.

  • 2 renewals are permitted as long as there are no requests on an item.
  • Fines and fees over $2.00 can be paid online with a debit or credit card through SmartPay
  • Computer use requires a library card. Fines over $5.00 will block computer use and check out services.
