The Grounds Maintenance Department has nine employees consisting of one Grounds/Flood Maintenance Supervisor, one Grounds/Flood Maintenance Leadworker & seven Grounds/Flood Maintenance Worker I/II. This staff is responsible for maintaining grounds around Madera County buildings and parks throughout Madera County.

The department is responsible for all grounds maintenance & operation around all Madera County buildings. This includes mowing of lawns, trimming trees and shrubs, and general cleanup of the grounds. Following is a list of some of the areas we are responsible for:

  • Bass Lake Government Center
  • Oakhurst Health Center
  • Courthouse Park
  • Oakhurst Library
  • Madera County Library
  • Parksdale Park
  • North Fork Library
  • Parkwood Park
  • Main Government Center
  • Road 28 & Avenue 14 County Complex

In addition to the grounds maintenance work, the department is responsible for flood control duties. These duties include maintaining the Fresno River, Berinda Slough, Ash Slough and other designated flood channels which may cause flooding situations during heavy rain seasons.

The department is very flexible in what they do. The staff reacts to emergency situations well & are always ready for a challenging projects when assigned. The Grounds Department accomplishes whatever it is asked to do. The department is also responsible for moving furniture and equipment between county buildings and facilities.
