The Building Maintenance Department has 15 employees consisting of one supervisor, three senior building crafts and maintenance workers, one heating and cooling specialist, and ten building crafts and maintenance workers II. One of the senior building crafts and maintenance workers, and two of the building crafts maintenance workers are assigned to the Department of Corrections Facility. The remaining staff are responsible for maintaining buildings throughout Madera County including: Chowchilla, Oakhurst, Bass Lake and North Fork facilities.

The department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all Madera County buildings, building facilities and equipment to operate those facilities. The following is a list of some of the different types of work we are responsible for:

  • Heating and Air Conditioning
  • Underground Utilities
  • Electrical
  • Painting
  • Carpentry
  • Communication
  • Cable Installation
  • Cabinet Construction
  • Concrete Pouring and Installation
  • Automatic Vehicle Gates, PM and Inspection
  • Energy Saving Measures
  • Fire Alarm Inspection and Testing Security
  • Locks Installation
  • Preventative Maintenance all Buildings and Equipment

In addition to building maintenance work, this division is responsible for completing annual Building Program Projects. Each year between 30 and 40 Building Program Projects are completed. Some of the different types of projects requested include:

  • Building Construction
  • HVAC Replacement
  • Office Remodels
  • Modular Building Installation
  • Street Light Installation
  • Asphalt Paving, Sealing & Striping
  • Roofing
  • Carpet Installation
  • Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Installation
  • Chain Link Fence Installation

The Building Maintenance Department is talented and flexible in the services provided. Staff reacts to emergency situations well and are always ready for challenging projects.
